A few days earlier than predicted by some, Google today released the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) source code:
Hi! We just released a bit of code we thought this group might be interested in. Over at our Android Open-Source Project git servers, the source code for Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is now available.
In fact, the version released is 4.0.1 and it is specific to the Galaxy Nexus. Updates for other devices such as the Google Nexus S will follow later when “we feel confident that they’re ready to ship on consumer devices.”
If you’ve ever wanted to try to build your own version of Android from scratch, here is your chance to do it with Google’s latest. Here are the download instructions to get you started. Have fun!
