It has come to light that the Galaxy Nexus does not come with Flash preinstalled. If you are looking to install it, you will not be able to do so as it is not available for Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) at this time. Adobe, which recently announced plans to stop development of Flash for mobile, has confirmed though that it will update Flash Player for Android 4.0. A company spokesperson told Pocket-lint:
“Adobe will release one more version of the Flash Player for mobile browsing, which will provide support for Android 4.0, and one more release of the Flash Linux Porting Kit – both expected to be released before the end of this year.”
The announcement also confirms that Adobe will not support future Android versions. Going forward, it will only provide bug fixes and security updates.
With HTML5 taking on more and more of what Flash used to provide, it’s likely that many will not miss it.
