BGR is reporting today that the first Google Ice Cream Sandwich devices could launch as early as October. Google is apparently looking to move up the release to stop customers from “drooling over the iPhone 5” which is expected in September or October.
The report does not indicate what these first devices could be. Could one of these be the second generation ASUS Eee Pad Transformer?
Google today has two versions of Android: Android 3.x (Honeycomb) for tablets and Android 2.x (Gingerbread being the current version) for smartphones. Ice Cream Sandwich, first announced at Google I/O in May, will reunite the two different versions into a single one for both types of devices. At the time, Google indicated that it was aiming for a Q4 launch.
