WPCentral.com has learned that Dell will not launch any Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) smartphones. Citing a “a higher up at Dell,” it reports that Dell has decided not to launch a successor to the Venue Pro or any other Windows Phone smartphone this year and next year.
Dell has not completely closed the book on Windows Phone though. It could launch new devices when Apollo – also known as Windows Phone 8 – is released.
No reason was given for the decision to skip Windows Phone 7.5 (the Venue Pro will continue to be supported though). The decision does appear to be more directly related to the entire mobile division though as Dell is also apparently reducing the number of Android devices it plans to launch.
