Good news for AT&T customers who own an Android phone that the company introduced this year. The carrier has confirmed that “all post-paid Android smartphones already introduced this year” will be upgraded to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The following devices are scheduled for updates:
- HTC Inspire 4G
- LG Phoenix
- Motorola ATRIX 4G
- Pantech Crossover
- Samsung Captivate
- Samsung Infuse 4G
The LG Thrill 4G is missing from this list. I suspect that this is an oversight more than anything though.
Timing and delivery method will vary by device. While OTA will be the preferred update method, there may be cases where a Wi-Fi connection or a PC connection is required.
As already reported, the Motorola ATRIX 4G update has already begun to get pushed out. HTC Inspire 4G users can expect the update in August.
