AT&T yesterday outlined its plans for deploying its LTE network in 2011. The first phase will take place this summer and will consist of five markets: Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and San Antonio. Another 10 (and possibly more) markets will be added in the second half of the year. AT&T expects that its LTE coverage will cover about 70 million Americans with these fifteen deployments.
CTO John Donovan also revealed that AT&T will launch about 20 4G devices this year with an undisclosed number of these being LTE capable. It is likely though that the first LTE devices will be USB modems.
