AllThingsD has learned that Apple will hold its next press event on October 4th. Not only will this be the event where Apple finally announces the next generation iPhone (or iPhones) but it will also likely be Tim Cook’s first product launch as the company’s CEO.
According to “sources close to the situation,” the Apple iPhone 5 will be available within weeks of the announcement. It remains to be seen if the launch will follow Apple’s traditional phased rollout or if it immediately be available globally. Pent-up demand and rumoured production delays would suggest that the former will once again take place.
