While rumours that the launch of the iPad 2 has been delayed have been dismissed, it appears that Apple and its partners are still facing some manufacturing challenges. According to Digitimes sources, early production volumes have been trimmed back from 400,000 to 600,000 units to some 300,000 to 400,000 units due to a last minute “adjustment in specifications” and low touch panel yields.
Apple could find itself in the same position it found itself in with the launch of the original iPad. It may once again limit initial shipments to the US and expand to other markets when manufacturing volumes increase.
Rumours that surfaced yesterday suggest that Apple will unveil the iPad 2 on March 2nd.
