Previous rumours suggested that Apple might only begin production of its next generation iPhone in September. Reuters has learned that it could in fact begin a bit earlier in either July or August. Citing “three people with direct knowledge of the company’s supply chain,” it goes on to indicate that the iPhone 5 would then begin to ship in September.
The report also suggests that the iPhone 5 will be very similar to the current iPhone 4 but will sport a faster processor. It makes no mention of other rumours that suggest that it could have a larger 4-inch display, a Sony 8MP rear-facing camera, and an aluminium back.
It remains to be seen if Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 at its upcoming WWDC conference as it has done with a number of previous models.
