Citing “industry sources,” Digitimes is reporting that production of the still unannounced Apple iPhone 5 is now well underway. Component suppliers such as lens maker Largan Precision, touch panel maker TPK Holding and battery vendors Simplo and Dynapack are operating at full capacity and Foxconn Electronics is already producing some 150,000 units a day.
September iPhone 5 shipments should fall between 5 and 6 million units and top 22 million for the fourth quarter. At the same time, iPhone 4 (both GSM and CDMA) shipments will begin to taper off.
Digitimes also reports that Pegatron which is supposed to have landed iPhone 5 orders as well will not begin shipping until 2012. No reason was given for the delay.
