The Apple rumour mill never sleeps. As the iPhone 4S went on sale, attention has now turned to the next iPad. According to Susquehanna Financial analyst Jeff Fidacaro, Apple has begun production of the iPad 3. According to his “supply chain checks,” fourth quarter iPad production has increased and Fidacaro suggests that this is due to an early iPad 3 production run:
“Since our last month supply chain checks we are now seeing 600,000 to one million iPad 3 builds showing up on the plan for the fourth quarter of calendar 2011,” Fidacaro told AllThingsD. “Our previous estimate did not include any iPad 3s.”
With production underway, Fidacaro expects that Apple will launch the iPad 3 in early 2012. Could Apple unveil its next iPad a year after unveiling the iPad 2?
Fidacaro shed no light on what changes Apple would bring to the latest iPad.
