As Apple is set to unveil the iPad 2 today, a Cult of Mac source is already suggesting that customers wait for the iPad 3, “the one to make a song and a dance about.” The source suggests that the development of the iPad 2 was not without issues (something we’ve already heard) and that some features may have been pushed out to the next model in order to get this version released.
The source gave no timelines for the release of the iPad 3 but there have been rumbles that it could be out later this year, possibly in time for the holiday season.
The iPad 2 is widely expected to come with a faster processor, more RAM, a Qualcomm dual-mode wireless chipset supporting both GSM and CDMA, and a front-facing camera (and perhaps even a rear-facing one). It should be thinner and lighter than the original model.
Cult of Mac is also reporting that Apple could unveil a new MobileMe service which will offer cloud storage for music, TV shows, and films purchased on iTunes (and possibly other sources).
