Apple iOS 5 delayed to Fall 2011?

Apple

TechCrunch.com has learned that Apple’s next major iOS release may not be ready for the traditional spring release time frame. Citing two “solid sources,” TechCrunch.com indicates that Apple will delay the release of iOS 5 until the fall. Its launch could also coincide with that of a new iPad (perhaps with a high-resolution retina-like display).

iOS 5 is expected to be a major upgrade with a number of new cloud-based services (perhaps including music locker and location services). Apple could use its WWDC conference to announce and preview its latest OS.

The iOS 5 delay could also affect the launch of the next iPhone. One option is that it would still be unveiled in the June/July time frame (the traditional time for new iPhone unveilings) but with iOS 4.x onboard until iOS 5 is ready. Another option would be to delay its launch although that appears unlikely at this time.
