LG is the latest manufacturer to shed some light on its plans to offer Google Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwiches) to its devices. LG Italy has confirmed via its Facebook page that the upgrade is coming to the LG Optimus 2X, Optimus 3D, and Optimus Black. Timing details were not provided but are expected in December.
LG is also looking at upgrades for other LG smartphones. A second update later in December will reveal which additional devices will receive the update.
The fact that the LG Optimus Black which is powered by an older 1GHz single-core processor can be upgraded is good news for other such devices. It suggests that a lot of more recent smartphones that are not necessarily at the high-end could eventually receive the update (assuming that manufacturers are so inclined).
