Android 4.0 coming to Google Nexus S “a couple of weeks” after Galaxy Nexus release

Google AndroidDuring an interview at the AsiaD: All Things Digital conference now taking place in Hong Kong, Andy Rubin answered one of the biggest questions to follow the Android 4.0 announcement: When will it be available for current devices? Rubin answered that an upgrade would follow “a couple of weeks after” the release of the Galaxy Nexus.

The first device to get the upgrade will be the Google Nexus S. Google’s Gabe Cohen and Matias Duarte also expect that the update should work for any device currently running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) but no specific schedules were provided.

Rubin also confirmed that Android 4.0 will go open source around the same time that the first updates are released.
