Citing “people familiar with the matter,” The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Amazon will launch its oft-rumoured tablet by October. It will also launch two new Kindle readers in Q3. The first will feature a touchscreen while the second will be an improved and cheaper variant of the current Kindle.
The Amazon tablet will reportedly sport a nine-inch display and run Google Android. It will reportedly not have a camera but will let users not only read ebooks but also watch videos and listen to music. These specifications line up fairly well with those of earlier rumours that indicate that Amazon could launch a high-end media-focused tablet (one of possibly two tablets planned for this year).
