Digital marketing firm eDataSource estimates that Amazon may have seen as many as 95,000 pre-orders for its first tablet, the Kindle Fire, on the first day alone. The number is roughly a third of sales Apple recorded for the first day the original iPad was available.
eDataSource apparently came up with its estimates by tracking email purchase receipts in 800,000 inboxes.
Amazon unveiled the Kindle Fire tablet this past Wednesday. Selling for US$199, it will begin to ship on November 15th.
