RIM information is leaking out fast and furious these days. In the past couple of weeks, details about a number of devices have emerged and now CrackBerry.com has landed what appears to be a 2011 roadmap for RIM’s CDMA BlackBerry lineup. A number of devices are featured, including the PlayBook in Q2, the Montana and Monaco in Q3, the Sedona in late Q3 or early Q4 and the Malibu in late fall 2011.
The Montana, also called the Bold Touch, is the CDMA counterpart to the already leaked BlackBerry Dakota. Aside from the different connectivity details, specifications are pretty much the same. A release date is planned for July or August.
The already-leaked Monaco (which could launch as the BlackBery Storm 3) now appears as a dual CDMA/EVDO Rev. A and quad-band GSM/EDGE/single-band UMTS device.
The GSM Apollo, the next generation Curve device (resurrected from a rumoured premature death), will be joined by the already spotted CDMA Sedona. Release is scheduled for August or September. The Sedona will come with BlackBerry 6.1 Lite, suggesting that higher end devices will come with a more fully featured version of the OS.
These will be joined by the Curve Touch (codename Malibu), a touchscreen only device. Powered by a 800MHz Qualcomm MSM 8655 processor, it will come with CDMA/EVDO Rev. A connectivity, a 3.25-inch HVGA display, A-GPS, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, 512MB RAM, 1GB ROM, NFC support, a microSD card slot, and a trackpad and navigation keys.
Also included are a number of slides on new features we can expect to see in BlackBerry 6.1. Among those are magnetometer support, NFC support, HD video recording and playback,Wi-Fi mobile hotspot support, improved browsing including support for HTML5, more interface personalization option, and an enhanced virtual keyboard.
