First spotted a few weeks ago, Kobo today formally announced the Kobo Vox eReader, its first Android tablet device.
The Kobo Vox, named from the Latin “Vox Populi” meaning the voice of the people, enables readers to start conversations with other readers and discover new books and authors through their social network. With a vivid color display, Kobo takes the reading experience to a whole new level and offers even more content – rich color books, newspapers, magazines, games, music, video, games and social feeds – all on an open Android platform.
Much like other tablet eReader devices (such as the Amazon Kindle Fire which it will beat to market), the Kobo Vox will allow users to do more than just reading. It will also allow them to browse the Web, check email, listen to music, watch movies, play games and store personal photos. Users will have access to Kobo’s 2.5 million books as well as magazines from Zinio, 1,900 newspapers from PressReader, 15,00p apps, and more. It also comes with Kobo’s Reading Life, its social reading experience that lets you track reading stats, earn awards for reading, and connect to Facebook and Twitter.
