It appears tonight that the reports of an early demise for HP’s Windows 7 slate device may have been premature. In fact, HP could offer as many as eight similar models of the HP Slate 500 (models HP Slate 500-1001tu PC through to HP Slate 500-1008tu PC) powered by Windows 7 Premium if a product listing page cached by Google is to be believed.
According to the information posted, the HP Slate 500 will be powered by a 1.6GHz processor and Windows 7 Premium. It will come with an 8.9-inch display, 1GB RAM, and two cameras (video and still). These specifications line up with those of earlier rumours.
The HP Slate was first unveiled back at CES 2010. Soon after, rumours emerged that HP was also working on an Android tablet. With its Palm acquisition, HP more recently appeared to focus on a webOS tablet codenamed Hurricane.
Just yesterday, we learned that HP was looking to trademark the name trademark ‘Palmpad’.
