WIND Mobile to launch opt-in mobile ads in Q1 2011

WIND Mobile customers will soon be able to receive rewards and discounts by looking at ads on their mobile devices. A partnership with MyScreen Mobile Inc. will enable the carrier to display ads at the end of every call. Customers who opt in to the new service will earn rewards for every ad they view on their phone and will then be able to redeem these for various offers, products and services.

“WIND Mobile is happy to be partnering with MyScreen to provide our customers with an incredible new way to add even more value to their wireless services,” said Ken Campbell, CEO of WIND Mobile. “We truly are creating an entirely new user experience that is another example of WIND’s efforts to bring innovation to wireless in Canada.”

The opt-in service, developed by MyScreen, will allow customers to select the type of content and ads they receive. Ads will be delivered in a full-screen format with “visually engaging graphics that convey the advertisers’ brand image.”

WIND Mobile is currently running the program in pilot mode and expects to extend it to all customers in Q1 2011.
