WIND Mobile delays Victoria launch to early 2011

WIND Mobile

The Times Columnist is reporting that WIND Mobile has pushed back the launch of its network in Victoria, British Columbia, to March or April 2011. It had originally been hoping to launch this fall. The postponement is attributed to delays in procuring enough sites for towers and securing the necessary permits. According to chairman Tony Lacavera:

“It comes down to a few sites that are tricky to get … we have a lot but not enough to launch. We won’t do it until we are comfortable the network is solid.”

WIND Mobile is looking to secure as many as 68 sites for towers to completely cover the Greater Victoria area.
