Verizon planning several tablets for 2010 and LTE handsets for early 2011

Verizon Wireless

Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam has already confirmed his company is working with Google on a tablet. But he revealed today that Verizon has more than one tablet up its sleeve for this year. In fact, Verizon could offer Android tablets from Motorola, Samsung and LG by the end of the year. Beyond the general timelines, McAdam revealed little else about these tablets.

McAdam did not rule out that Verizon could eventually offer the Apple iPad itself:

“There’s no reason we couldn’t have an iPad,” McAdam said.

McAdam also revealed that Verizon is looking to have up to five 4G LTE handsets by May 2011. Among the manufacturers that could offer such devices are Motorola, HTC Corp, LG and Research In Motion. The move would coincide with Verizon’s launch of its 4G network in up to 30 markets including New York City by the end of the year.
