Verizon Wireless today announced that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be available starting on November 11th. It will sell for US$599.99.
“This is an incredible time in mobile technology, and as a company we’re excited to add the Samsung Galaxy Tab to our portfolio,” said Marni Walden, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. “The Samsung Galaxy Tab brings together the reliability of Verizon Wireless’ 3G network and the power of Android 2.2 to deliver on our promise of providing consumers and business customers with a host of options to help manage their lives.”
A 1GB for US$20 per month data plan will be available for customers to add 3G data access. Like Apple iPad plans, it will be month-to-month and will not require a contract. It’s not clear if other plans will be offered with greater data allocations.
Verizon will bundle a number of Verizon applications with the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Among those will be V CAST Music, VZ Navigator, Slacker Radio, Kindle for Android, and the exclusive golf game, “Let’s Golf.”
The pricing is higher than that of the Apple iPad which starts at US$499 (although the 16GB version with Wi-Fi is only US$30 more than the Tab). Other carriers may set their pricing lower so hope remains…
