The Sharper Image is the latest company to announce an e-reader. Designed by MerchSource, the Literati comes with a 7-inch LCD colour display (800 by 480) rather than the more traditional greyscale e-ink display.
The Literati comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and Wi-Fi. It will not have 3G connectivity.
The Literati leverages the Kobo eBook service, offering customers nearly two million book titles, including New York Times bestsellers, new releases, cookbooks, children’s books, magazines, newspapers, and more. It comes with a case and 25 classic books.
The Literati is expected to start shipping in October and will be available in either white or black with brushed metallic accents. It will sell for US$159 online and from a variety of US retail chains.
