TELUS to begin HSPA+ deployment in 2011

TELUS Mobility

As part of an announcement for its 2011 financial targets, TELUS confirmed that it will begin its HSPA+ deployment in 2011.

In addition, TELUS will continue to enhance wireless network capacity and deploy HSPA+ Dual Cell technology which will increase the manufacturer rated data downloads speeds of up to 42 Mbps. The deployment of Dual Cell is consistent with TELUS’ evolution towards Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology.

There is no word yet on what devices TELUS will release to go along with its HSPA+ network.

TELUS expects that its HSPA+ network investments will result increased data and roaming revenues. This will help it offset a decline in voice ARPU (average revenue per subscriber unit per month).

Bell began its HSPA+ network deployment in November with a launch in Toronto.
