I’m late on this one but just in case you missed it, TELUS has finally released the Android 2.2 update for the HTC Desire. And it even managed to do so in October (on the last day granted) as it had announced (despite signs it would slip further out). As for what is included in update 2.25.661.2, here are the goods:
- Android Froyo 2.2
- Wi-Fi hotspots allow up-to 8 users to connect to the internet through your phone
- 720P video recording
- Improved system and browser performance
- Option to install applications to SD card
- Flash 10.1 support
If you own an HTC Desire, you might already have gotten prompted to do the OTA upgrade. If not, you can trigger the process manually by selecting Settings > About phone > System software update > Check now. And you also have the option of downloading the update from HTC.
