Sony Ericsson today revealed details for the Google Android 2.1 upgrade for its Xperia X10 smartphone. The OS update will be part of a larger UXP upgrade that will also offer a number of enhancements to Sony Ericsson’s user interface and signature applications Mediascape and Timescape.
Back when Sony Ericsson introduced the X10 in Canada, I was told by a local Sony Ericsson representative that the upgrade would be offered in November. Sony Ericsson has now confirmed a Q4 2010 rollout.
The UXP upgrade will include the following:
- Upgrade to Android OS version 2.1
- HD video recording as per the same execution as Sony Ericsson Vivaz
- Wireless home connectivity via DLNA
- Improvements to signature applications Timescape and Mediascape
In the meantime, Sony Ericsson will release a smaller software update within the next few weeks to improve the usability and performance of the Xperia X10.
Sony Ericsson will also offer the UXP upgrade for its Xperia X10 Mini and Xperia X10 Pro smartphones in Q4 2010.
