After rescheduling its Android 2.1 update for the XPERIA X10 smartphones a number of times, Sony Ericsson today tweeted that it is now expecting to have it out in November here in Canada:
Exciting news! 2.1 upgrade for the #X10 will be available in Canada in November!
The update should be available for the XPERIA X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro smartphones. The XPERIA X10 update is expected to include HD video recording with continuous auto-focus, a new backup and restore application, 5 homescreens, and a social phonebook that will automatically sync contact pictures from Facebook and show when your friends are online. The XPERIA X10 mini and X10 mini pro update will include improved Bluetooth functionality, a new backup and restore application, automatic contact picture synchronization between Facebook and your phonebook, and improved media handling in messages.
Interestingly, Sony Ericsson had initially announced a Q4 release date so we are back to the timeline that they had initially proposed.
