Rogers recently unveiled its new flanker brand chatr to take on new wireless players such as Mobilicity and Public Mobile. It may have some competition of its own as well if MobileSyrup.com sources are correct. It appears that Bell has decided rebrand its Solo Mobile brand and use it to compete in this market: “The brand has been completely repositioned to cater to a new target demographic and will be offering very similar priced rate plans.”
It appears that Bell is borrowing a page from Rogers’ strategy book: Its Bell Mobility brand will continue to feature the latest devices, its Virgin Mobile brand will act as its value brand, and Solo Mobile will focus on unlimited talk and text plans.
There is no word on when and where (likely to be only specific markets, I suspect) the new Solo Mobile will launch.
