Samsung to focus on Android and bada despite upcoming WP7 devices

While Samsung is expected to unveil Windows Phone 7 devices later this year, the company will remain focused primarily on devices powered by Google Android and Samsung’s own bada. In an interview with Reuters, YH Lee, head of marketing at Samsung Mobile, described the expected demand for Windows Phone 7 demand as “professional, specialized demand.”

It appears that Samsung will have no compunction abandoning Windows Phone 7 if demand for its first devices does not meet its expectations.

Validating its decision late last year to abandon Symbian, Lee also confirmed that it has not seen any demand for Symbian devices and Samsung has no current plans to offer such devices in the future.
