Rogers announced today that it will launch the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 phone in Q2 2010. Rogers will be the first North American carrier to offer the Android-powered device.
“At Rogers, we have built our legacy on innovation, bringing the most exciting and exclusive handsets first to customers in Canada,” said John Boynton, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Rogers Communications. “We are thrilled to be the exclusive Canadian carrier to offer this phenomenal mobile entertainment device.”
The XPERIA X10 will be powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor and Google Android 1.6 with the Sony Ericsson UX customized interface (with signature applications like Sony Ericsson Mediascape and Timescape). It will come with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band (800/1900/2100MHz or 900/1700/2100MHz depending on market) UMTS/HSPA connectivity, a 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display, 1GB of phone memory, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an 8.1MP camera with auto-focus and flash, and a microSD card slot.
Rogers will provide pricing information at launch. It’s also not clear if we will see the XPERIA X10 in other parts of the world earlier than Q2.
