Good news for Rogers Wireless owners of the HTC Dream and HTC Magic. It looks like Rogers has managed to convince HTC to revisit its decision not to offer Android upgrades for the two devices.
While there has been a lot of confusion regarding software updates for these devices – we want to make sure that everyone knows that Rogers has been pushing hard to ensure the best possible outcome for all customers who have purchased an HTC Dream and Magic. Although we previously announced that we did not plan an upgrade to either device, we have reevaluated based on Rogers request and agreed to move forward.
The HTC Magic will receive an upgrade to Android 1.5 in the upcoming weeks. The upgrade will also include the HTC Sense user interface. Unfortunately, this will also be the last upgrade for it due to “certain limitations”.
The HTC Magic will also get an Android 1.5 upgrade in the upcoming weeks. This will then be followed up by an upgrade to Android 2.1 (with the HTC Sense user interface) by the middle of the year.
Good on Rogers and HTC for changing their mind!
