So far, Research In Motion has only hinted at its release plans for the upcoming RIM PlayBook tablet, suggesting a price under US$500 and a release in early 2011 in North America. MobilityInsider.com may have just landed new details though.
RIM will apparently offer three models, identical except for the amount of internal memory. All three will require tethering to a BlackBerry for WWAN connectivity but will support Wi-Fi connectivity as well (nothing unexpected so far). The cheapest model will come with 8GB of storage and will sell for US$399. The second model will carry 16GB and sell for US$499 and the third will have 32GB and sell for US$599.
Mobile Insider also indicates that RIM is planning a second generation PlayBook with integrated WWAN connectivity options in 2012.
