Bloomerg is reporting that Research In Motion’s rumoured tablet could be out by November. RIM tablet rumours have been gathering steam recently, suggesting that the company is close to unveiling such a product.
Citing “two people familiar with the company’s plans,” Bloomberg also suggests that the tablet will come with a 9.7-inch display, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to allow users to tether their tablet to their BlackBerry smartphones. Other rumours have suggested a 7-inch display. This suggests that RIM is working on several prototypes and that more than one model could eventually be offered. RIM’s tablet is also expected to offer the same BlackBerry capabilities as its smartphones and offer similar security measures, something that will be attractive to enterprise customers.
One Bloomberg source indicates that the tablet will be named the BlackPad, an already familiar name and a domain name that RIM recently acquired. Pricing is expected to start at US$499 to allow RIM to take on the Apple iPad.
In the meantime, RIM is expected to unveil its BlackBerry 9800 slider on Tuesday.
