It appears that the rumoured RIM BlackBerry Storm 9570 will not see the light of day. Revealed to be no more than a hardware refresh of the BlackBerry Storm2 to support BlackBerry 6, it now appears that RIM has decided to cancel it entirely. A BBLeaks.com source received the following:
“Thank you for your hard work and diligence in preparing your application to support the upcoming hardware refresh of the BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone (model number 9570, codename R027). Regrettably, RIM has decided not to pursue this device further and has ended the program.”
It was only a few days ago that a Verizon roadmap leak revealed that the carrier had chosen to pass on the BlackBerry Storm 9570.
It’s not clear what will happen to the Storm family. It never met with resounding success and RIM may have decided to put it to rest while it focuses on newer devices such as the BlackBerry Torch and upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook.
