Public Mobile has acknowledged that it is dealing with coverage issues with its recently launched Montreal network. The areas include Cote-Vertu, Ahunstic, and Riviere-des-Prairies. All are slated to see improvements very shortly. Other areas will also see improvements during July.
In a story published in The Globe and Mail, Brian O’Shaughnessy, Public Mobile’s chief technology officer, indicated that the problems were due to last minute delays as it was deploying its network. Fixes now underway include equipment tweaks as well as adding new rooftop sites.
In the meantime, Public Mobile has extended the period during which customers can return their phones to July 13th as long as they activated prior to July 6th. The Globe and Mail is also reporting that Public Mobile is sometimes offering free service until the problems are resolved so check with Public Mobile if you’re having problems.
