Digitimes sources are reporting that Pegatron Technology will manufacture HTC’s rumoured Android tablet.
According to the report, the HTC tablet will be powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform and Google Android (3.0 as rumoured?). It will come with a 1280×720 multitouch display, 2GB RAM, a 32GB SSD, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. Its multimedia capabilities are described as “stronger than that of iPad.”
There is no word on availability but Digtimes expects that HTC’s tablet could sell for around US$800. Should it come with 3G connectivity, the carrier subsidized pricing would be even lower.
There is a bit of drama brewing as Apple is apparently displeased about Pegatron’s decision to manufacture the competing tablet. Apple could shift some or all of its orders away in response.
