PayPal will soon be available for In App Purchases on Apple iPhone and Google Android applications. It will also be available as a new payment method on the Google Android Market. The news comes courtesy of Paypal Benelux Country Manager Dennis van Allermeersch.
PayPal’s iPhone Library looks like it will complement Apple’s own virtual In App purchase system and will only work for physical goods and services:
The library is the simplest way to integrate PayPal into your iPhone application. With a few method calls, you’ll be able to accept payments for your goods and services right in the comfort of your own app – no need to link to an outside site and no need to handle sensitive data.
Google appears to have gone further and approved its use for its Android Market. This will complement the current Google Checkout and carrier billing (where available) payment options.
PayPal is expected to launch its new In App payment service in the US, Canada, UK, France, Italy, The Netherlands and Australia in Q2 2010.
Hopefully more information will soon emerge to clarify this a bit more…
