Orange moved quickly to deny that one of its executives confirmed the imminent release of the Apple tablet. Yesterday, Orange executive Stéphane Richard apparently confirmed the existence of the much-rumoured device during an interview. Orange is now explaining that some comments were taken out of context and misinterpreted when translated to English. According to an official statement,
"These responses in no way reflect Orange’s confirmation of the existence of the rumoured device. The spokesperson was merely confirming that he is aware of the speculation surrounding a launch and that Orange would be delighted to have such a product were it ever to be available."
It’s not the first time that Orange has confirmed an upcoming product before its official announcement. Back in 2007, the company jumped the gun and confirmed a deal with Apple for the Apple iPhone weeks before it was officially unveiled.
Most rumours now suggest that Apple will unveil its tablet PC possibly called the iSlate at a press event on January 26th or January 27th.
