Opera announced today that it will preview Opera Mini for iPhone during the 2010 Mobile World Congress next week. Unfortunately, the demonstration event will only be open to journalists and partners.
“We are thrilled to offer journalists and partners an exclusive preview of Opera Mini for iPhone during the year’s biggest mobile event,” said Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera Software. “This is a unique opportunity to introduce the fast, feature-rich Opera Mini experience for the iPhone, and to showcase our latest beta releases of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini on other platforms and devices. Opera’s mission is to bring the Web to the world, and by making Opera Mini available on yet another platform, we are one step closer.”
Opera Mini for iPhone promises to be faster than Apple’s own Safari and could cut data traffic by as much as 90 percent, something likely to make AT&T very happy.
One big question remains: Will Apple approve Opera Mini for iPhone? Opera has not submitted it for approval yet so it remains to be seen how this will play out.
Opera also plans to unveil new beta versions of Opera Mobile 10 for Symbian S60, Window Mobile and Android devices, Opera Mini 5 for a number of platforms, and Widgets Manager for Windows Mobile and S60 devices.
