HTC issued a brief statement today about the lawsuit initiated by Apple on March 2nd. In it, Apple accuses HTC of infringing on some 20 patents related to the iPhone user interface.
“HTC disagrees with Apple’s actions and will fully defend itself. HTC strongly advocates intellectual property protection and will continue to respect other innovators and their technologies as we have always done, but we will continue to embrace competition through our own innovation as a healthy way for consumers to get the best mobile experience possible,” said Peter Chou, chief executive officer, HTC Corporation.
The statement does not provide any information on how HTC will defend itself but promises a formal response later.
The lawsuit has been perceived as an indirect attack by Apple on Google and its Android mobile operating system which is used by HTC on a number of smartphones.
