Since this morning’s announcement of the Samsung GALAXY Tab, a number of related news items have surfaced:
- A spokesperson for Samsung Canada confirmed today to the CBC that the Samsung GALAXY Tab will be available in Canada sometime this year.
- The Galaxy Tab will also be picked up by a US carrier although which has yet to be revealed (Verizon appears to the lead suspect).
- Samsung will provide an Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) update once it is released.
- A second generation of tablets powered by the forthcoming Google Honeycomb (Android 3.5) is coming in 2011. Honeycomb will apparently be optimized for tablets, suggesting that it may not make its way onto smartphones.
- Powering Samsung’s Readers Hub is none other than the Kobo eReader application. Kobo CEO Michael Serbinis described it as “a HUGE WIN for Kobo!”
I am looking forward to getting my hands on the Samsung GALAXY Tab. It looks quite promising…
