Today, Google announced a new service called Google Buzz which lets users start conversations in a fashion very similar to Twitter but directly within Gmail. Users can also link their Twitter, Flickr, Picasa, and Google Reader accounts to their Buzz conversations. Each time they post, users can publicly share their conversations or limit them to selected contacts. Updates happen in real time without the need for any refresh. Buzz also promises to weed out uninteresting posts from the people you follow.
Unsurprisingly, Buzz supports mobile devices:
Google Buzz for mobile allows you to post buzz and keep up with your friends when you’re away from your computer. It also uses your location to identify places around you. You can select one of these places and attach it as location tag to your posts, or read what others have posted about the place.
Buzz is now available for the Apple iPhone and Android-powered mobile devices. Point your browser to buzz.google.com.
