Rumours are again suggesting that RIM is hoping to be able to release its tablet device by the end of the year rather than early next year. The research note from Ashok Kumar, an analyst and managing director at Rodman & Renshaw also suggests that the device will come with a 7-inch display and a 1GHz Marvell processor. It could also feature front- and back-facing cameras for videoconferencing. It’s not the first time that Kumar has made such claims.
The Marvell 1GHz Armada 610 processor being considered by RIM is capable of 1080p video playback, advanced 3D graphics and supports image capture up to 16MB.
Kumar’s report does not shed any light on other rumours that RIM’s tablet could be more of a companion device rather than a full-blown tablet like the Apple iPad.
