Motorola today announced that has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) against Apple, alleging patent infringement. It also filed suits in two US states (Illinois and Florida). It alleges that technologies developed by Motorola can be found in many Apple products and services, including MobileMe and the App Store.
Together, the three complaints cover 18 patents that include wireless communication technologies (including WCDMA, GPRS, Wi-Fi, and antenna design), wireless email, proximity sensing, software application management, location-based services and multi-device synchronization.
Motorola is looking for a ban on the import of products that infringe the patents, a halt on the use of the technologies in question, and compensation.
Last week, Microsoft sued Motorola over patent infringements in Motorola’s Android smartphones.
