Motorola and Verizon have just announced a New York press event for June 23rd where they promise to announce the “next generation of DROID.”
Speaking at the event will be John Stratton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless, Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering for Google, Sanjay Jha, co-chief executive officer for Motorola, and Shantanu Narayen, Adobe’s CEO. While it’s not clear whether both the upcoming DROID X and DROID 2 will be announced, could Rubin and Narayen’s presence be a sign that Android 2.2 and Flash 10.1 have made their way onto one of the devices (likely the DROID 2).
Meanwhile, Engadget got a preview of the DROID X and confirmed that it will come with a 1GHz ARMv7 processor, Android 2.1 with an updated version of MOTOBLUR, a 4.4-inch capacitive touchscreen FWVGA (854 by 480) display, 8GB of onboard storage, and an 8MP camera capable of shooting 720p video.
