A number of new rumours have surfaced about Apple’s upcoming late January press event.
First, according to All Things Digital, the event will take place on January 27th rather than the 26th as initially rumoured. And while they don’t reveal what will be announced, the event is described as “a big deal” where “a major new product” will be announced.
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal has ‘confirmed’ that Apple will announce “a new multimedia tablet device”. Their sources also indicate that it will come with a 10 or 11-inch touchscreen display and that Apple is still working on finishes for the device. Shipments are scheduled to start in March.
Lastly, French site Mac4Ever.com reports (but suggesting that it be taken with a grain of salt) that Apple will also unveil a beta version of iPhone OS 4 along with an SDK. The latter will apparently come with a tablet simulator allowing developers to begin porting and creating tablet applications. The simulator will support different screen resolutions, suggesting that the next iPhone could come with a higher resolution display than the current one.
