On the heels of rumours suggesting that Amazon will announce a third-generation Kindle this August come new details about it. Apparently codenamed Shasta in an internal product listing, it could come in two variants.
The first model would come with 3G connectivity only (as does the current Kindle). The second could come with either both 3G and Wi-Fi or only Wi-Fi.
A Wi-Fi only model would likely allow Amazon to offer it at a cheaper price as it could take out any costs associated with 3G connectivity.
Earlier rumours have also suggested that the new Kindles will be thinner and feature more responsive and sharper resolution displays.
