Mobilicity introduces CA$0 phones without a contract

Mobilicity is really taking the gloves off. Its latest offer (good only through October) gives customers a phone for free without any contract. Customers will receive a CA$100 credit with the purchase of any handset and new unlimited talk text or data plan activation. With four handsets, including the HTC Snap now priced at CA$99.99, priced under CA$100 to choose from, customers are essentially getting the phone for free.

“In the old days, if consumers wanted $0 phones, they were forced into signing long-term contracts,” said Vice President, Marketing Sara Moore. “Today, Mobilicity gives Canadians the freedom to choose without any of the regrets or penalties associated with breaking contracts.”

Customers can use the credit to pay for long distance calls, roaming, downloads, and even their monthly bill.

Mobilicity also introduced a CA$20 unlimited data add-on. It is available with any Mobilicity unlimited talk plan.

Mobilicity has taken the hassle out of understanding exactly how your data usage is measured because our data add-on is truly unlimited. Use as much as you want, download all month long for just an additional $20 a month. It’s that simple.

Just last week, Mobilicity announced the BlackBerry Curve 3G and upcoming launch of the Google Nexus One with Android 2.2.

It will be interesting to see how the competition reacts…
